Today’s Topic is Historical Fiction

Historical Fiction as a way to interest teens in different historical periods. A book list will be forthcoming–ECYA members can add to this booklist.

We also talked about different genres of historical fiction such as Historical Fantasy and Alternate History (example: Leviathan).

Another topic was the pretty dress phenomenon, with many historical fiction covers featuring ladies in dresses.

The survey we discussed at our last meeting received many response regarding the location of tween reads in either the YA or Juvenile section. An analysis will be posted thanks to Jennifer.

Our next meeting will be on April 13th. The topic will Summer Reading. ECYA members, please feel free to add summer booklists to the blog.
