The one thing I find most interesting is how other libraries are getting teens involved at their libraries. One thing I think we can all agree on is that we meet in order to establish how we do what we do, how others do what we do, and how we can do what others do in order to do more for our teen population. Only in cyber land would I be able to stumble upon what libraries are doing all the way in Nebraska! With that said, I think if you have a moment you might want to check this link out. It’s very cool and has some useful ideas that could help us all. It’s based on Effective Marketing to Tweens and Teens.

Minutes October 14, 2011

The topic for the October 14, 2011 meeting was Books that Don’t Make You Blush. In addition to potential books for this list, the definition of what does or does not make one blush was also discussed. The definition of a clean book is relative and very much dependent on the person.

We also discussed the integration of high interest, low level Orca books into library collections.

Survey results were presented. ECYA meetings will continue to be on the second Friday of the month from 10:00am – 12:00pm. Future meeting dates and topics are as follows:

November–No Meeting. State YA Meeting in Wallingford on November 17th.

December 9th: Boy Programs and Books

January 13th: Tech Programs

February 10th: Tween Reads

March 9th: Historical Fiction

April 13th: Programming and Summer Reading

May 11th: Hot Fiction
