February Meeting Minutes

Posted by ecya on February 10, 2012

The February topic was Tween Reads:

The list of tween books discussed will be posted soon to the book lists page.

We discussed how to insure complete series are ordered–Ingram standing order series plans will send you books in the series and FictFact(?), an online service, will email when a new book in a series you select is announced.

Do tween books belong in a teen or juvenile collection? We discussed how that decision was that handled in each library and what sort of cooperation between children and teen departments exist and are needed. A proposal of a survey on this topic was mentioned. Watch out for this survey on various listservs.

We talked about books that are stolen and if it is really worthwhile to replace them if they are going to immediately be stolen again.

Jennifer has begun creating a list of books that fit the summer theme. Because we all know and choose different books, please feel free to update this list.

Our next meeting will be March 9th at WLSC. The topic will be historical fiction.
